In California, a Will is revoked by destruction or by a subsequent instrument, the latter being more common than the former. It is for this reason that most Wills start out with the following language:
“I, John Doe” am a resident of San Diego, California. I declare this to be my Last Will and Testament and I revoke all prior Wills that I may have made.
